Gladstone Mountain Gathering Grounds . . .
. . . is all about a place nested against the Rocky Mountains, dotted with lakes and ribboned with rivers.
Gladstone represents the wilderness to which the hearts of the native people are so attuned. Their very words, when they see the Gathering Grounds, are echoed in its surrounding hills, “this is like my home.”
Gladstone is about honor, identity and potential, not just another place in the white culture where natives feel outnumbered. The targeted ministries are outreach to Native professionals, summer camps, wilderness camping, and other ministries as the Lord allows. Essentially, this will be a facility for Native groups to come in and do programs the way they need to do them. In addition to serving the Native people, it will be the site of all NAIM staff conferences, the Summer Missionary Institute orientation, and other NAIM functions.
Gladstone Mentoring: One focus of Gladstone that has surfaced is to work with young people who show promise and who may be future leaders of their people. One very practical aspect of that vision is for me to bring in young men from the reserve to assist with some of the endless physical labor at Gladstone. Gladstone is not able to pay them; however, we have been given permission to start a special fund so that he can offer a stipend for their work. If you are interested in giving towards such a fund, you can send a gift to NAIM with the designation PN #7256.
