Our Church

We attend Piikani Lighthouse, a small fellowship of people from both the reserve and town. It was started by our coworkers, Donny and Dana Coulter. 11 years ago they set out across the US and Canada, knowing that God was calling them to work with First Nations, but not sure where. They ended up here. Donny started a camping program that has used Gladstone for 10 years (even before it became associated with NAIM). After a year or two, the people from the reserve asked if he would start a church. He did, and our little fellowship now meets in a converted house on the reserve. We have church upstairs, and the kids meet for children’s church downstairs, which doubles as their classroom and as the kitchen/fellowship hall.

I lead worship every other week and sometimes help teach the kids, and Elliot is the usual offering usher. Isaiah usually gets stolen by the teenage girls, and Erica can be found playing with her friend Shelby, who is only 5 days younger than she is. Jeff perhaps has the most important role, “hanging out” with the guys in the back row, being a steady, faithful friend and role model.

We long for our fellowship to be a safe place for Native people to grow in their knowledge of Christ and in their love for Him and each other. Please pray for great wisdom for our church leaders, and for the Spirit to move in a powerful way, especially in making strong, faithful disciples.
